Murray County Jiu Jitsu opened its doors as a single mat space with one coach and a handful of students who wanted more than a workout — they wanted a place to test themselves honestly. Over a decade later, that same principle still runs the room: show up, work hard, help the person next to you get better.
We've grown into a full academy for kids, teens, and adults, but we've kept what made the original space work — small class sizes, direct coaching, and a culture where white belts and black belts train side by side.
Everything we teach comes back to three things: technique that actually works, discipline that carries off the mats, and a room where every student — regardless of size, age, or experience — is pushed to improve.
Every roll starts and ends with a handshake. On these mats, respect for your training partner is non-negotiable.
Jiu jitsu rewards patience and precision. We coach leverage and problem-solving, not just muscle.
Students train together for years. That kind of consistency builds friendships that outlast belt ranks.
Showing up on hard days is the actual skill. We build habits that hold up far beyond the gym.
Murray County Jiu Jitsu opens in a small rented space with a single evening class and a dozen students.
Growing demand from local families leads to a dedicated youth curriculum focused on discipline and anti-bullying skills.
We move into our current facility, tripling mat space and adding a dedicated strength & conditioning area.
Hundreds of students train across kids, teens, adult, and competition programs — coached by the same team that started it all.
Our coaching staff isn't behind a desk — they're on the mats every week, still rolling, still learning.
